Q: What is a Student-Run Credit Union?
A: It is just as it sounds, a credit union operated by students for students and employees where they can learn about money in a safe environment. ICCU has supported a Student-Run Credit Union at the Mt. Pleasant Area Technical Center for 8 years. Accounting students are hired and trained to educate their peers about smart saving and spending, and (under direct supervision) operate a school branch. Since 1978, ICCU has invested in the community by hiring and training high-school students. In fact, ICCU’s current Executive Vice President and Accounting Supervisor are former co-op student employees.
Q: Is my money safe at ICCU?
A: Yes. ICCU is insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Accounts are insured up to $250,000 and backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government. To learn more, visit www.NCUA.gov.
